The Rio Grande Valley Sustainability Council Membership is comprised of public and private organizations from Cameron and Hidalgo Counties. Our goal is to inform businesses and governmental entities of the need to save energy and make sustainability a priority in their operations.
The first Rio Grande Valley Sustainability Council (RGVSC) Conference/Expo, was held May 26, 2009, at the McAllen Convention Center, located in McAllen, TX. The Conference theme was the “Economics of Energy Sustainability”. The conference fetured expert speakers and workshops by individuals that are involved in developing and implementing sustainability policies for business and governmental entities. The conference focus was on the advantages inherent in promoting sustainability, energy efficiency and use of renewable energy sources. Experts in energy efficiency, sustainability and renewable energy resources, addressed local industry professionals and government policy makers on the “real” advantages and benefits regarding the use of sustainable building practices, energy efficiency and renewable energy resources for the region. It is incumbent upon us that we begin developing energy saving policies and practices so we can make “Our Valley” a better place to live for future generations. |
